I See You
Danger danger said the girl on fire
Somebody please help me out
This world is colder than a man could sire
My bones are rattling with doubt
Then I see you wading through the water
You come on through just to help me out
I never knew this love was all I needed
Now I see you, I see you
My body breaks, this pain is never ending
I feel so broken to my core
Sometimes I think that I will be my ending
Sometimes I think I have no more
Then I see you wading through the water
You push on through bent to help me out
I never knew this love was all I needed
Now I see you, I see you
My soul is bleeding out the songs you send me
My anguish makes me feel alive
Somehow I know that you are always near me
Somehow I feel you in my life
Then I see you wading through the water
You come on through just to help me out
I never knew this love was all I needed
Now I see you, I see you
Then I see you wading through the water
You push on through bent to help me out
I never knew this love was all I needed
Now I see you, I see you
“I See You” is old me autobiographical, written at a time when desperation, romance, sex, and religion briefly unified in unholy matrimony. In the context of the song cycle (the third of 10 songs on snapshots of a failed relationship called LIKE A MOTH) it provides the first lyrical augury. Augury: a sign of things to come, like an omen.
